Public Hearing to receive citizen input on an amendment to Ordinance #152-Patriotic Commission
7:15 p.m. called to order Public 10 individuals Kent Carlson - like to ask to have Patriotic Commission go from 9 members 2 alternates to 10 members 2 alternates. Do not feel political - like to avoid simple majority rule in the charter. Would like to find individuals including independents who would like to serve on the Commission. Have been approached by several individuals who would like to be on the committee - I do not want to be on the Commission forever. Understand have to run the names through the particular party.
James Throwe, 1330 Main Street - looking at the ordinance and thank the Town Council for taking this up so quickly. 10 makes even number. Have to make sure do not need 5-5 or if can have 6-4 or whatever. Urge you to adopt.
Herb Asplund - 56 Tumblebrook. have been member for 10 years. There was a proposal similar to this a few years ago and did not go anywhere. Very happy you are doing this now and should be done. Members of Commission.
Bob Moeller - it is difficult when you get phone call and they are telling you the majority party is saying you have to get rid of one of your members. Been member for 14 years and have been chairperson. There are a lot of voters that are independent and do not realize they are eligible to be on Patriotic Commission.
Wayne McKinney - 1118 Ellington Road - As a citizen of the Town feel it should not be important what party you belong to. Do not feel individuals should have to belong to party to be on commissiioln
