Matt Riley - 12 Heathwood Drive - last week spoke about field proposal and spoke in support of that. field proposal, community center and other - would like to see the list. There seems to be a lot of items in the list that are maintenance items. Those maintenance items should be done out of the operating budget. The fields - think the subcommittee put forth a concise and compleling proposal. I thik the opportunity is right thre in terms of cost and financing. Council should take advantage of this time. the council has heard from TM and Ray in terms of their view of the project and also heard from the Athletic Director. Hope it is apparent that there is a need for the fields. Hope to hear some inforamtion about the Community Center and support for that. Good time to consider project like that. Take into consideration the current econimidc times. one other point - DRG debt service 5.2% - puts us 6th best of 21 towns. level of debt we have 36.4% that is 4th best of 21 towns. debt per person in that 21 peer group 1, - 3rd best. When I purchased my home in SW - leisure in this town is behind.
Derek, 36 Judge Lane - increase in sports partifcipation has increase significantly through the years. but there has not been fields added in town. the fields need to get done. we need better fields and more fields. now is a perfect time to fix the problems.
